Development in Fujian: A County-Level Perspective EconLit JB

1997
Lyons, Thomas P. China Economic Review v8, n2 (Fall 1997): 117-36

Abstract: This research note describes a county-level data set for Fujian province. The set includes

several hundred thousand observations on a wide range of social and economic attributes, for the

period 1978-93. The set also includes digitized maps showing prefecture and county boundaries,

rivers, roads, rail lines, and county seats. This data set is available to all interested researchers, and is

currently being used to investigate such issues as the spatial diffusion of new technologies, changes

in the branch structure of industry during the reform era, and intercounty disparities in output and

consumption. ("Development in Fujian: A County-Level Perspective", this study could be helpful in

understanding the development of Fuijian in the late 80's and the early 90's)

The economic geography of Fujian: A sourcebook Volume 2 EconLit JB

1997
Lyons, Thomas P. Cornell East Asia Series, no. 89. Ithaca: Cornell University,

Abstract: Presents location and attribute data from Chinese sources for the counties of Fujian. The

current volume focuses on industry and rural enterprise data for the period of reform--1978 to the

present. Collects some thematic maps and other graphic displays based upon the data and points to

some avenues for exploring patterns and processes suggested by these displays. Explains various

conceptual and technical matters not specific to Fujian data. Lists source materials, including full

citations of all sources used in the book. Includes three 3.5-inch diskettes containing substantial

portions of the data. No index. (The economic geography of Fujian: A sourcebook Volume 2, could be

useful if one wanted to find some economic information of Fuijian. Sourcebooks in general have

always been helpful to me in a time of need.)
