Adding Point Data

Another way to add data is by editing a theme's attribute table directly (assuming that you have write-access to the table). Consider the map of Austrian cities:

If I wish to add a variable and see it displayed with circles of size proportionate to value, here's one way to do it:

Open the Theme Table for aut_city.shp

Choose 'Start Editing' from the TABLE menu

Choose 'Add Field' from the EDIT menu

Fill in values in the Field Definition dialog box

Click on the 'Edit' tool

and fill in the values in the new column.

Choose 'Stop Editing' and answer yes to 'Save Edits?'

Choose 'Graduated Symbol' from the Legend Editor

and Classification Field BAR

Click 'Apply', and enjoy the result:

remembering again that these data are bogus.
