Saving a WordPerfect file as ASCII/Text only
If you want to send a file to someone by pine e-mail it is necessary (for
all practical purposes) to
- save it as ASCII (text only, DOS text)
- move it to Liberty using FTP (Rapid Filer in the Windows world)
- move it from your Liberty home directory into pine (using the pine
command <CONTROL> r)
To save a WordPerfect file as ASCII:
- Put a disk in the a: drive
- From the File menu choose 'Save As'
- Near the bottom of the dialog box note the 'Drives' window, click on
the down-pointing arrow at the right edge of that window, and click above
the square slider
- Click on a:
- The default file type is WordPerfect, so change this to
'ASCII (DOS) Text'.
- Supply a file name
- Click on the OK button
- Watch to make sure the drive light goes on to be sure it's working
